Hi.

I crave strong, hot coffee and perfectly browned toast, but life often interferes. I choose to search for the beauty and humor in the chaos.

A Quickly Disappearing Childhood

A Quickly Disappearing Childhood

This year was the first year my youngest son did not want to visit Santa. "I'm too old for that, Mom. I'll just send him a letter." Having an older brother seems to be causing him to grow up quicker than my oldest son did. He follows his older brother's example too often for my liking.

So when he shows any interest in little kid things, I jump at the opportunity to encourage his childlikeness. Recently, we visited my family in California. Kaden discovered an old Build-a-Bear with tons of clothes that my sister still had. All of a sudden, he was interested again in Beary, his bear he made for his 4th birthday.

At Downtown Disney, he bought Beary a pair of wire-rimmed glasses, Santa hat, Christmas pajamas, white briefs, and a black tuxedo. He was so excited to go back home and give Beary all of his "birthday" presents.

I was so excited to catch another glimpse of my little boy. Before I know it, he's going to be a little man . . . and then a grown man, so in the meantime, I'll treasure these rare glimpses of his quickly disappearing childhood.
